Al and Jeanie Eloped! | Jekyll Island Destination Wedding Planner

Al and Jeanie eloped to Jekyll Island!  It was on Friday, June 3, 2011, at 5pm on Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island, Georgia.  YES!  They did it!

Jeanie and Al are both originally from Waycross and knew each other from school.  They followed separate paths and separate lives for many years, with Jeanie in Tennessee and Al in Kingsland, Georgia, until they reconnected again on Facebook and fell in love.  Love changes everything!

They arrived right on time for their beach ceremony and walked the sandy path down to the beach.  The day was warm and the sun was setting as the centuries old driftwood stood its ground against the Atlantic Ocean.  The setting could not have been more beautiful as these two exchanged rings and vowed their love to each other forever.

Jeanie was stunning in her white lace dress and she carried a bouquet of white roses with baby’s breath with stems wrapped in sheer ivory ribbon.  Her groom, Al, wore a tan suit with a tiny pin stripe and ivory shirt and tie.  They both looked amazing together!

After the beach wedding photography, they returned to The Jekyll Island Club Hotel for additional photos and a romantic dinner in the Grand Dining Room before retiring for the evening.

You know…here in the South, maybe more than any other region, we go back to our home in our dreams and in our memories in hopes of recapturing our past.  That’s just what Al and Jeanie did.  Sometimes we look for that one true love and end up finding it right in our own backyard.  It was there all along.

Dorothy: If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own back yard. Because if it isn’t there, I never really lost it to begin with!
