Ashley and Jeff Eloped – It Was Perfect! | Jekyll Island Wedding Officiant

The day was perfect with beach temps in the 70’s and a light breeze coming off the Atlantic Ocean.  Jeff Biggs and Ashley MacKinnon eloped on this perfect day, April 26, 2014 at 4pm on Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island, GA.

I met Ashley and Jeff at their Villa just before the beach ceremony and we drove the short distance to Driftwood Beach.  Lots of beach activity happening on this beautiful day, but that didn’t matter one bit to this happy couple.

Jeff and Ashley had spent most of their day at the ER so Jeff could see a doctor for a sinus infection.  After hours of waiting, he had still not been seen and they had to leave in order to get ready for their wedding day.   He may have been feeling under the weather, but he never let on, as he was so happy to be marrying the love of his life!

We met the photographer, Kathy Lipthratt at the path entrance to the beach and walked together to find just the right spot for an elopement.  The tide was coming in, so we chose a spot that would possibly keep the waves from rushing in over our feet.

Ashley was so pretty in her white, floor length wedding gown with a strapless, sweetheart neck-line.  She wore a tiara in her long brown hair that was curled beautifully.  Her bouquet was of light and dark pink roses with babies breath.   They looked absolutely adorable as they stood facing each other and the ceremony began.

The ceremony was short and romantic with just the two of them and they said there vows to each other as though they were the only ones that could hear.   The sounds of the waves lapping on the shore and the seagulls chirping above made this ceremony complete.

A soul mate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we’re pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we’re safe in our own paradise.
