Louise Witkowski and Doug Thompson were married on Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island, Georgia on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 4pm in the afternoon. Lots of friends and family witnessed the beautiful ceremony that was set among the huge overturned driftwood trees along the beach.
Direction signs with balloons were erected along the way to the ceremony location and white and aqua Chinese Lanterns were hung from trees along the sandy path to the beach. So pretty and a wonderful touch to direct their guests to the wedding. White wedding chairs were set up in rows facing the ocean and the guests took their seat just before 4pm as the music began.
After the moms were seated, Doug, the groom, and I walked forward down the aisle and stood to face the guests. Doug was very handsome in a white linen cabana shirt and khaki slacks. So cool and perfect for this very hot June day! His best man stood next to him and shook his hand before the rest of the wedding party proceeded.
Louise chose 3 bridesmaids and they were all dressed in a beautiful chiffon, knee length, dress in aqua. So pretty for a beach wedding! The Junior bridesmaid wore a knee length dress, as well, but in a slight shade difference for the contrast. The flower girl was adorable in an aqua tutu of tulle skirting and walked the aisle with the Junior groomsman, dressed in white shirt and shorts.
The guests were all directed to stand as Louise, the bride, and her father approached the ceremony. Doug turned to see his gorgeous bride for the first look. Their eyes met and their faces broke into smiles.
Louise was beautiful in her white, floor length, strapless, wedding gown with chapel length train. Her bouquet was gorgeous as she and her father stood before her groom to be presented in marriage.
At at the rehearsal on the evening prior to the wedding day, Louise arrived with bandages covering both eyes. Both corneas had been scratched from her contacts. She was ever so distressed of this but everyone encouraged her that she would be fine for her wedding day. Doug stayed right by her side to help her since she could see nothing.
Today, Louise wore dark sunglasses to shield her eyes from the harsh sunlight, but soon removed them to reveal her beautiful eyes and see her handsome groom. Her beautiful eyes smiled!
The two repeated their vows and committed themselves each to the other for a lifetime. Rings were exchanged and they were at last pronounced husband and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Thompson, at last!
This day I will marry my best friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love. ~ Unknown
