The sunrise wedding of Alison Kane and Adam Hellwig was held at approximately 6:26am on July 1, 2014 on Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island, Georgia. You have to see it to believe just how beautiful the sunrise is as it comes up over Jekyll Island and this July morning was as beautiful as I have ever seen!
The morning started earlier than you might think, so early that some never went to sleep. Devyn Miller, the hair stylist and make up artist arrived at 2:45am to begin her expertise on Alison and Val, Alison’s mom. As always, Devyn was awesome and Alison and Val were even more beautiful than ever. Chris Moncus, the photographer was there at 4am to capture the get ready shots and details before everyone departed for the beach.
It was still dark outside at 5:40am as the guests began to arrive on Driftwood Beach. Mimosa’s were served as a little refreshment while the groom and his best man, Kirk Crandall took their place on the beach.
The morning’s sunrise slowly began to edge upward as the guests gathered close around. Megan Kane, sister of the bride and maid of honor emerged from the sandy path and onto the beach. She took her place as everyone waited in anticipation of the bride.
A breathtaking display of radiant colors began to form streaks of pink, yellow, red, and orange and slowly overcame the dark blue and purple of the twilight sky. All the colors blended perfectly into each other as Alison and her father, Mike Kane, walked arm in arm for Alison to be presented in marriage to her groom.
Alison was gorgeous in her white floor length wedding gown. She was effortlessly beautiful in this simple and sweet wedding dress. The strapless ruched bodice featured a feminine sweetheart neckline and the long soft chiffon material gave this dress a whimsical feel. She carried a bouquet of beautiful wild flowers of pink, blue, yellow, and peach. So pretty!
The ceremony began and included Adam’s son, Landon in the vows. Alison promised to love and care for Landon as her own, as he in turn promised to love, honor, and respect Alison as his stepmom.
Vows were said, rings were exchanged and the sun was just peeking out of the horizon as Adam and Alison were at last pronounced husband and wife. Adam kissed his bride as the sun’s rays were beginning to shine brightly and warm the air. Nothing more romantic than that!
As I marveled at the glistening reflection of the sun on the ocean and the beach, an amazing feeling of awe swept over me. A new hope, a new start, a new beginning. It’s a brand new day!
